How To Auto Dispatch Orders
Orders can be Auto Dispatched from OrdersAutoDispatch.aspx, or on Orders.aspx.
To Auto Dispatch an Order from OrdersAutoDispatch.aspx:
- Go to Orders > Auto Dispatch Orders on the left navigation.
- Enter the Order ID for the Order you wish to Auto Dispatch in the Order ID field and press the Enter key on your keyboard.
To Auto Dispatch an Order from Orders.aspx:
- Go to Orders > Orders on the left navigation.
- Find the Order you wish to Auto Dispatch by entering the Order ID in the search field, or scroll to the Order.
- Once you have found the Order you wish to Auto Dispatch, click the Auto Dispatch Order button. This will take you to the OrdersAutoDispatch.aspx page with the details of this Order displayed.
From this point on, the process is the same for both methods. At this stage, the OrdersAutoDispatch.aspx page should be open and the details for the Order should be displayed — note that this screen capture applies to the case where there is more than a single item in the order:
Note: If you use the IRP Stock Control feature and you enable the Application Setting called Stock Control Enable Order Messaging, the IRP will perform a scan on the Order Manage and Orders Auto Dispatch page to check the order's stock standing for the Admin User's registered Stock Location. Here is an example of the sort of message you might see on the OrdersAutoDispatch.aspx page:
If you click the link for the Stock and Sales History, you will be directed to the ProductStockAnalysis.aspx page. For more details, see the Stock Log help topic.
Notes on Intersoft orders:
For Intersoft orders, the
Description of Goods field will be prepopulated with the Intersoft Description Of Goods value from the associated Shipping Method.
When the order is dispatched, the RequestXml value will contain a descriptionOfGoods
element with the value from the text box. The RequestXml value will also contain a customsInformation
element with the sub elements shippingCharges
, invoiceNumber
and invoiceDate
.
You can create Customs Documents for existing Intersoft shipments. A 'Customs Doc' button is available within the 'Intersoft Shipping Labels' grid at the bottom of the OrdersAutoDispatch.aspx page. When you click the button, a lightbox will open where you can use Customs Document settings to create the document for printing.
To view the items in an order, click the View Items button at the top of the page and you will be directed to the main grid showing the item details. To view the front end page for an item, simply click the image in the grid and a new window will open via the rewritten URL of the model.
Note that when there are several items in the order you will have the option in the ‘Ready to Dispatch?’ area to click NO – Part Dispatch Order or YES – Dispatch Whole Order.
- Enter or edit the following details if necessary:

How To Print Labels Automatically
You can print postage labels automatically from the Auto Dispatch page. This is sometimes called 'silent printing'. If you enable silent printing, you will not be prompted to click 'Print' when you open a PDF label using the Auto Dispatch feature. Instead, the print action occurs automatically on your default printer. To use the silent printing feature, follow the steps described in this section.
1. Prerequisite: ensure that you have Adobe Reader installed.
You must have the latest version of Adobe Reader installed on the machine that you use for printing the labels.
2. Enable the Silent Printing Application Setting
- Go to Application Settings in the IRP Admin left navigation menu.
- Scroll to the Shipping section.
- Check the box beside the Enable Postage Label Silent Printing setting.
- Scroll to the top or the bottom of the page and click the Update Application Settings button.
3. Configure Adobe Reader
- Open Adobe Reader.
- Go to Edit > Preferences.
- Open the Security (Enhanced) section in the left “Categories” navigation menu.
- Check the Enable Enhanced Security box.
- Still in the same section, click the View Windows Trusted Sites button.
This opens the Internet Options panel:

- Click Trusted Sites and then the Sites button.
- Add separate entries for “http://” and “https://” versions of your site’s domain. For example, “http://www.websitename.com” and “https://www.websitename.com”.
- Click the Close button.
- Click the OK button on the Internet Options panel.
- Click the OK button on the Adobe Reader Preferences panel.
4. Configure your Web Browser to Open PDFs in Adobe Reader
For Google’s Chrome browser, follow these steps:
- Type the following into the Chrome Address Bar: chrome://plugins/
- Scroll to Chrome PDF Viewer and ensure that it is disabled.
- Scroll to Adobe Reader and ensure that it is enabled:

For Mozilla’s Firefox browser, follow these steps:
- In Firefox, open the Tools menu and select Options.
- Select Applications.
- Scroll to Portable Document Format (PDF) and set it to Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox):

- Click the OK button.
Troubleshooting
Sometimes there are issues between browsers and Adobe plugins that are outside the control of the IRP. If you encounter problems, a few steps to try are:
- Uninstall the current PDF Reader and install the very latest PDF Reader. This may generate different results compared to an update for what is already installed.
- Try a different PDF plug-in.
- If using Mozilla Firefox, try using the ESR (Extended Support Release) version of Firefox (search for this online for details)
- Try a different browser (particular browsers are recommended or preferred based upon the experience they provide, but that doesn't mean other browsers won't work at all).
