Images Folder

You can find this section under Interface & Design > Images Folder in the IRP Admin left navigation menu.

You use the Images Folder to upload, download and edit all images (and documents such as PDFs) except Interface images, on your website.

The list of images that you can upload includes — but is not limited to — the following:

  • Banners
  • Brands
  • Categories
  • Emails
  • Languages
  • Models
  • Navigation imagery
  • Personalisations
  • Product Customisations
  • Purchase Guarantees/Positive Affirmations
  • Shipping Countries
  • Size Charts
  • Stock
  • Translation imagery
  • Social Media imagery (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.)

You can upload the following file types:

  • bmp
  • gif
  • ico
  • jpg
  • pdf
  • png
  • swf
  • webp

The URL for an image or other content is displayed in the File URL section when you highlight an item:

IRP Admin images folder

This allows you to display the image in the various HTML content areas on your site by using HTML tags. For example, in Model Descriptions, Large Translations, Bottom Navigation, etc.

You can also display other content, such as a PDF, by using simple HTML anchor tags with an href linking to the item in the Images folder.

Note that you can delete only newly-created folders on the ImageManager.aspx page. Certain required folders are protected and cannot be deleted.

Model images

When a Model image is uploaded to the IRP, it goes into the 'New' folder (within the Models folder) and is then processed. This processing creates multiple copies of the file, each a different size (150, Full and Original) for specific use in the IRP as described in Image Processing. (The folder called 'New' is not used for displaying images in an IRP.)

How To Upload, Rename and Delete Images

To Upload, Rename or Delete an image in the Images File Management section, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Interface & Design > Images Folder on the left navigation.
  2. Click into the relevant subfolder in the left hand window, e.g. If you are uploading a banner image, click into the Banners folder.
Note that if you want to create a new folder, you must use an underscore (_) or a hyphen (-) and NOT a space to separate any words in folder names.
  3. At this point you have three options:
    • Upload:
      • Upload new File - Click the Browse button and select the desired image on your machine. Then click the Upload button. Note that if your filename contains any spaces or special characters, the IRP will automatically remove them. In addition, if the renamed filename already exists in the upload directory, you will be prompted to confirm that you want to replace the file. If you click Cancel, the filename will be post-fixed with a numbered bracket and uploaded to the folder.
Note also that you can 'drag and drop' images into the directory you have selected.
      • Overwrite a File - If you need to backup the image you are overwriting, rename it to save a backup copy, e.g. If you are backing up an image called 'brandBanner.jpg', rename it 'brandBannerBackup.jpg', then upload the new image as in the previous step. Ensure that the name of the new image is the same as the image you are overwriting and that the same file extension is used, e.g. if you are overwriting 'brandBanner.jpg', the new image file should also be called 'brandBanner.jpg'.
    • Rename File to - Select the image which you want to rename in the right window. It's current filename will be displayed in the text box. Enter the new filename including the same file extension and click the Rename button.
    • Delete - Select the image which you want to delete in the right window and click the Delete button. Multiple images can be selected by dragging the mouse pointer over a range of images or by holding the Ctrl key and selecting images individually. These will be highlighted in orange:
The number of images selected will be displayed so that you know exactly how many images will be deleted.

Can I upload videos to the Images Folder?
No, instead of uploading images to the Images Folder you should first host them on a site such as YouTube, Vimeo, Screencast.com and so forth. You can then link to the images using HTML iframes in any of the editable areas of IRP Admin, such as Custom Content Pages, Product Descriptions and so forth. Note: when specifying the width of the iframe, make sure that you use a value of 100%. This ensures that the video will display well on the mobile version of your site.
