Translation Categories

You can find this section under Interface Translations > Translation Categories in the IRP Admin left navigation menu.

You use this section to categorise translations into groups based on their content and location on the site.

Categories are assigned to the translation when the translation is created in the IRP. You can also create new categories in the IRP for those that don't exist.

Translation categories are used as the page header when using a translation to create a ‘Contact Us’ or ‘FAQ’ page.

The main TranslationCategories.aspx page appears as follows:

The grid contains the following information:

  • ID: This is the unique IRP identifier for this Translation Category. This is added automatically.
  • Name: This is the name of the Translation Category, used to group Small Translations and Large Translations. The name can be in any language in your system.
  • Notes: These provide any useful additional information relating to this Translation Category within IRP Admin.
  • Edit: Click this button to make changes to an existing Translation Category. For details, see the How To Add or Edit a Translation Category topic later in this section.

How To Add or Edit a Translation Category

To add a Translation Category, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Interface Translations >Translation Categories in the IRP Admin left navigation menu.
  2. To add a new category, click the Add New Translation Category button or, to change an existing category, click the Edit button on the right side of the row belonging to the category that you want to change. The TranslationCategoriesEdit.aspx page appears as follows:

  3. Enter the following details:
    SettingDescription
    Translation Category ID The unique IRP ID for this Translation Category — this is added automatically by the IRP.
    Category Name The name of the translation category used to group small and large translations. To translate the name into any of the languages in your system, click the 'Translate' button and select the language from the drop-down list.
    Notes Admin notes for this Translation Category. This can be used to provide additional information relating to this Translation category within the IRP Admin.
  4. When you have entered or updated all of the details, click the Insert Translation Category button.
