IRP Commerce recently teamed up with Amazon Pay to highlight the challenges faced by Irish retailers in the first Amazon Pay Merchant Summit.

Taking place in Amazon HQ, the Summit heard from leading industry experts, The Baymard Institute, who highlighted some of the key reasons for cart abandonment and advice on how to rectify it. Information can be found here.

The team from Amazon Pay gave the audience insights into voice commerce and challenged the room to be the first retailer to introduce it into their organisation.

Well-known Irish retailers Argento and Magee 1866, as well as Retail Ireland, took part in the panel and discussed personal ups and downs, what ecommerce companies should focus on for success and the impact that Brexit will have on retailers on the island of Ireland.

  • Ecommerce in Ireland is growing 20% year on year.
  • Ireland is expected to be the fastest-growing economy in the EU in the next five years.
  • Irish consumers were the largest users of international sites. More than €2.7bn spent online on international sales in 2017.
  • There has been a 67% increase in mobile ecommerce sales in Ireland this year.
  • 73% of Irish online shoppers are cautious of having their personal credentials hacked.
