Export Technologies sees off stiff competition to be named category winner at the prestigious Aer Lingus Viscount Awards.

The awards took place in the Royal Automotive Club in London’s Pall Mall and five companies from Northern Ireland were recognised for their achievements. Judging was carried out by leading professionals from the world of business and journalism.

This is the sixth year of the competition, which is run in conjunction with Ulster Business magazine, and it takes place to honour those companies who are generating enduring and lucrative economic ties between Northern Ireland and Great Britain.

Speaking about the award, Les Curran, COO said “We are delighted to have won this award as it’s a real testament to the strength of our business. Category selections were based on staff numbers and although we have a relatively small team, we have generated more than £1 billion worth of online sales for Northern Ireland companies. The latest version of the IRP platform means we are in a stronger position to further increase our customer base within the UK and our London office will also assist in developing new sales leads”.

Other businesses that were recognised at the awards were animation company Sixteen South, Andor Technology and the Almac Group Ltd.

Aer Lingus Director of Communications, Declan Kearney said, “We were hugely impressed by the calibre of this year’s entrants. What is clear is that NI business owners certainly have the ambition and drive to expand and explore new territories for growth. The companies we’re rewarding have demonstrated a true commitment to innovation and have achieved spectacular growth and success both here in Northern Ireland and crucially further afield. Their success is indicative of the huge potential local firms have to compete on a global scale.‣
