UK Government Advice to Ecommerce is to Remain Open

The government clearly wants maximum safety and minimal transmission, and for businesses to create as safe an environment as they can for their staff.

These are unprecedented and fearful times on many levels for families and businesses.

Businesses have a very serious responsibility to create safe social distance in their work environments and to follow government guidelines.

Unfortunately, like many other jobs, distribution centres and ecommerce dispatch centres do not have a work-from-home option for many people.

The current UK government health advice is here.

For warehouses and ecommerce, the current UK government advice is to remain open

Everyone is watching government advice to businesses about all areas, including ecommerce. The current UK government advice is that ecommerce should remain open:

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/further-businesses-and-premises-to-close/further-businesses-and-premises-to-close-guidance

The third paragraph states: “Online retail is still open and encouraged and postal and delivery service will run as normal”.

In addition, under “1. Businesses and premises that must remain closed”, in the section “All retail with notable exceptions”, one of the notable exceptions is: “Storage and distribution facilities, including delivery drop off points”.

The government clearly wants maximum safety and minimal transmission, and for businesses to create as safe an environment as they can for their staff.

The risk and situation is different according to profession and geography. At IRP Commerce we are very fortunate to be able to carry out some work remotely.

We can help by delivering a major software upgrade in IRP Version 7 and by supporting our customers and partners during this unprecedented time.

Everyone should be aware of this information.
