eCommerce sales on the IRP platform saw a 9.65% year-over-year (YOY) increase in September 2025 and continued to outperform the wider market. According to the BRC retail overall sales grew +2.3% in September and +0.7% for non-food sales. IRP's focus on profit - growth with controlled traffic cost - is putting merchants on the IRP in a strong position.

Noteworthy sector growth includes:

  • Kitchen & Home Appliances: +27.67%
  • Food & Drink: +25.29%

Strong conversion rates were observed in:

  • Pet Care: 50.85%
  • Baby & Child: 41.29%
  • Toys, Gameds & Collectables: 24.05%

Economic Influences

September sales trends on IRP outpaced those of the wider UK economy with +9.65% YOY growth v +0.7% for UK non-food retail (reported by the BRC) and +2.3% YOY for UK retail in general.

  • Consumer Caution: Customers are tightening their spend in the run up to Christmas.
  • Macroeconomic Pressures:Challenges remain with inflation and the UK's autumn budget weighing heavily.

Key Challenges for 2025:

  • Ongoing cost pressures on SME’s continues to dampen business investment, employment and growth.
  • US and retaliatory tariffs continue to impact business sentiment.
  • Selling in international markets, especially the US market, is forcing merchants to look to new markets.

  • International Sales: The US Dollar continues to weaken and the end of the De Minimus exception is creating duty and shipping issues that will continue for some time to come.

Cost and Conversion Trends

  • Cost of Sales (COS): CPA% (percentage spent on marketing channels) reached 7.97%, marking a -9.12% YOY reduction. The CPA% reflects Merchants and Agency tight control on traffic costs.
  • Conversion Rates: September 2025 rose YOY from 1.57% to 1.62% (+93.18%), highlighting increased price sensitivity and consumer belt tightening.
