Search Redirects

You can find this section under Search > Search Redirects in the IRP Admin left navigation menu.

Using this section you have the ability to Redirect search terms entered by customers to specific pages on the Desktop site (and also your Mobile and Trade sites if you have these enabled). This is one of the most powerful features of the IRP search functionality; redirects are straightforward to configure, for example you can populate URL-rewritten redirects by using placeholders.

The SearchRedirects.aspx page appears as follows:

You can use the search bar at the top of the page to find any Search Redirects that you have configured in your system.

You can see the following information in the main grid:

  • ID: This is the unique ID of the search term, generated by the IRP. You can click the heading to sort the grid in ascending or descending order.
  • Search Term: This is the term that visitors will enter in the Search bar on the front end of your website. You can click the heading to sort the grid in ascending or descending order.
  • Redirect Url: This is the Desktop URL to which customers will be redirected when they conduct the search using the associated search term. You can click the heading to sort the grid in ascending or descending order.
  • Mobile Specific Url: This is the Mobile URL to which customers will be redirected when they conduct the search using the associated search term (if you have the Mobile site enabled). You can click the heading to sort the grid in ascending or descending order.
  • Trade Specific Url: This is the trade site URL to which customers will be redirected when they conduct the search using the associated search term (if you have the Trade site enabled). You can click the heading to sort the grid in ascending or descending order.
  • Date Added: This is the date and time when the Redirect was configured by an Admin User. You can click the heading to sort the grid in ascending or descending order.
  • Added By: This is the name of the Admin User who configured the Redirect. You can click the heading to sort the grid in ascending or descending order.
  • Delete: Check this box if you want to delete a Search Redirect. Make sure that subsequently you click the large Delete Selected Search Redirects button at the top or the bottom of the screen.
  • Preview: Click this button to see how the Redirect will look on your website.
  • Edit: Click this button to edit details of the Redirect. For more details, see the How to Add or Edit a Search Redirect topic in this section.

At the top of page you can see these buttons:

  • Search History: Click this button to go to the SearchHistory.aspx page. See the Search History help topic for more information.
  • Add New Search Redirect: Click this button to go to the SearchRedirectEdit.aspx page where you can add a new Redirect. For more details, see the How to Add or Edit a Search Redirect topic in this section.
