Custom Product List Templates

You can find this section under Interface & Design > Custom Product List Templates in the IRP Admin left navigation menu.

This functionality allows you to display Custom Product Lists differently by providing template HTML which specifies where the list itself begins and ends and where the list items begin and end. This uses a similar format to Basket Content Templates and Order Sheet Templates.

Custom Product Lists are used instead of Home Pages within campaign email content. Home Pages are not supported in campaign emails.

The main CustomProductListTemplates.aspx screen appears as follows:

IRP Admin image

The screen shows the following details:

  • ID: This is the unique IRP identifier for this Custom Product List Template.
  • Active: Active templates will be available in areas of the system such as email content, inactive templates will not.
  • Template Name: This is the name that is used when displaying Custom Product List Templates within IRP Admin.
  • Time Stamp: This is the date and time when the Custom Product List Template was created.
  • Delete: Check this box if you want to delete a Custom Product List Template, then click the 'Delete Selected Custom Product List Templates' button.
  • Preview: Click this button to see what the Template will look like.
  • Copy: Click this button to copy a Custom Product List Template. This is the ideal choice to make if you want to create several very similar templates with just small differences between each one.
  • Edit: Click this button to edit a Custom Product List Template. For more details, see the How to Add or Edit a Custom Product List Template article later in this section.

You can delete a Custom Product List Template by checking the box on the right side of the grid and then clicking the Delete Selected Custom Product List Templates button. Note however that the IRP ensures that at least one template is always kept active.

Note: To use the Custom Product List Template in an email campaign, see the Marketing Campaigns help topic. To use the Custom Product List Template in a Custom Content Page, see the Custom Content Pages help topic.

How to Add or Edit a Custom Product List Template

To add or edit a Custom Product List Template, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Interface & Design > Custom Product List Templates in the IRP Admin left navigation menu.
  2. To edit an existing Custom Product List Template, click the Edit button at the right side of the row belonging to the Custom Product List Template that you want to edit.
NOTE: Remember that you can use the Copy button to make a copy of an existing template and then tweak it as necessary.
  3. To add a new Custom Product List Template, click the Add New Custom Product List Template button at the top of the screen.
  4. Select Add HTML Email.
  5. Complete the information below:
    SettingDescription
    Template Details
Template ID The unique ID of the Custom Product List Template in the IRP. This is added automatically.
Active Active templates will be available in areas of the system such as email content, inactive templates will not.
Template Name Enter the name that will be used to identify this Custom Product List Templates within IRP Admin.
    HTML Body Content
HTML Add the HTML content of this Custom Product List Template. Use the available placeholders (described below) to specify the position of certain data. CSS does NOT need to be added inline and can be added in the section below. Use the drop-down list to translate the content into any active language in your system.
If you look at look at the default template you will see that the entire content must be contained within the <!-- BEGIN CUSTOM PRODUCT LIST ROW --> and <!-- END CUSTOM PRODUCT LIST ROW --> placeholders, that individual items must be contained within the  <!-- BEGIN CUSTOM PRODUCT LIST ITEM --> and <!-- END CUSTOM PRODUCT LIST ITEM --> placeholders and that within each item section you should include appropriate placeholders such as $$ProductName$$, $$Price$$, $$ViewProductURL$$ and so forth. It is highly recommended that you save and preview your configuration as you go along and definitely before you make it active.
    Available PlaceHolders
PlaceHolders Add any of the following placeholders to your HTML:
    All Platforms:
<!-- BEGIN CUSTOM PRODUCT LIST ROW -->
<!-- END CUSTOM PRODUCT LIST ROW -->
<!-- BEGIN CUSTOM PRODUCT LIST ITEM -->
<!-- END CUSTOM PRODUCT LIST ITEM -->
    $$ProductName$$
    $$ProductImage$$
    $$ProductImageUrl$$
    $$Price$$
$$RRP$$ (note that this is automatically removed from Custom Product List Templates when the RRP is greater than or equal to the minimum price value)
    $$Discount$$
    $$RewardPoints$$
$$Swatch$$ – use this placeholder to add colour swatches to custom product list templates. Note that, since a custom HTML structure is used for the product information, it is important to include a 'swatch-link-container' class on a parent element of any product link that the swatch should update. You should also use the $$ProductImage$$ placeholder to allow the swatch to automatically change the product image URL. The swatch will not automatically update a custom image element using the $$ProductImageUrl$$ placeholder. For more information about the IRP colour swatch functionality, see How to Add Colour Swatches on Listings Pages.
    $$ViewProductLink$$
    $$ViewProductUrl$$
    Desktop:
    $$ReviewStars$$
$$OfferStatusImage$$ (this will show only the offer status image when it is applicable for an item; the image uses the CSS class .offer-status-image so that the image can be styled for the Custom Product List Template)
    $$WishlistButton$$
    Mobile:
    $$ReviewStars$$
    $$OfferStatusImage$$
    $$MobileImageContainer$$
    $$MobileModelLink$$
    $$MobileAddToBasket$$
    $$WishlistButton$$
Note that the '150' image folder is used for Custom Product List Template images (Interface & Design > Images Folder > Models > 150).
    CSS Styles
CSS Add the CSS classes referenced in the HTML above.
  6. To save your configuration, click the Insert Custom Product List Template button or the Update Custom Product List Template button.
  7. Remember that the template must be Active before it can be used. Also make sure that you preview it before making it active and if necessary, change your HTML and/or CSS.

Note: To use the Custom Product List Template in an email campaign, see the Marketing Campaigns help topic. To use the Custom Product List Template in a Custom Content Page, see the Custom Content Pages help topic.
